Freshmenopause
An emotional and psychological phenomenon, exhibited most commonly during a college's student's initial return to his or her parents' home, often Thanksgiving weekend of freshman year. Fueled by confused and conflicted feelings about emancipation, dependence, and the vague feeling of losing one's home, and marked by mood swings, intermittent boredom and impatience with loved ones, and sometimes erratic behavior.
After initially being amused by the home office her parents set up in her old room, Rosie's freshmenopause kicked in, causing her to scream tearfully over pumpkin pie that her parents never really loved her. Rosie apologized profusely 10 minutes later, told her parents she loved them very much, and asked for some money.
