俚语 heary
释义

heary

A term used by deaf people to refer to people that can hear. (Also spelled hearie.)
Deaf guy A: "So, who's your new girlfriend?"
Deaf guy B: "She's a heary, but she can sign."

hearie

A hearie is a hearing person who had no idea that there are indeed people in the world who are deaf or hard of hearing. They respond to meeting deaf or hard of hearing people as though they are a complete anomaly never before encountered by human kind prior to that exact moment. Usually this response is accompanied by complete disrespect for the deaf or hard of hearing person (as well as deaf culture norms) or by acting as if the deaf or hard of hearing person is also mentally deficient.
You know, hearies don't even attempt to understand any ASL. All I wanted to know was how much the soda pop costs! But no! They shoo me away!
