Identity Politics
A political dog whistle term used by white people and white allies when they get called out on their white supremacist acts.
Yhe Left engages the Black vote what a disgusting display of “identity politics.”
Identity Politics
Opportunistically and shallowly marketing an illusion of equality towards historically marginalized groups based on religion, race, gender, etc. for the sake of political or monetary convenience.
Biden: "Get me a list of the 3 trans people in America, I'm gonna hire one!"
Assistant: "Yes, sir, right away, sir."
Assistant 2: "Isn't that cultural appropriation??"
Assistant 1: "No, you're thinking of identity politics."
Biden: "Someone get me my milkshake!"

Identity Politics
Utilizing pride in identities to create a sense of uniqueness, belonging, recognition and raise awareness. Often, each group prioritizes the concerns of the group over the whole in an effort to give equal liberties to minorities. Identity politics offsets the gap in a democracy where every man is created equal, but the majority rules.
It's good in the sense that it creates communities, bad that it overlooks where identities overlap or cross.
The identity can be anything. Examples include age, religion, social class, profession, culture, race or ethnicity, health diagnosis, disability, education, sex, gender identity, occupation, sexual orientation, veteran status...
Because the identity can be anything, the concept of Identity Politics gets used and misused with varying definitions in different contexts. In 2018 -2019, it seems to be a term white people throw around to deflate the issues and struggles exclusive to people of color, and as a result, an attempt to diminish the power and purpose of identity politics making this word, in of itself, taboo to use.
In another context, identity politics can mean that people put more emphasis on the identity of the group over the betterment of it. It usually entails the notion of ostracizing people because their belief or opinion slightly veered from the majority of that minority's belief or opinion.

I am so sick of identity politics. The issues you raise for black people are issues all people face. I don't feel privileged being a white man probably because my belief in white superiority just masks my feelings of inferiority.
Just because I am a black man who identifies as a black man doesn't mean I have to support the identity politics behind being a black man. I know the struggles of my people, but I would rather become affiliated with the very people who marginalize my people to show them what a black man is. And a black man isn't a victim. A black man isn't complaining about the unfairness of a life we all admit is unfair. A black man built this country. A black man can run it.
I think people form identities around their politics. They fit the box too perfectly. They blindly accept these principles because it's not a belief system to them. It's an identity. It's playing dress up, "I'm a republican, so obviously I'm an intelligent, practical rich person. I'm going to take that left hand turn in my expensive truck with a serious face because I'm a serious republican, <insert Clint Eastwood Eyes>" versus, "I'm a liberal, so obviously I'm a caring compassionate person. Fuck you if you disagree! I hope you die and burn in eternal flames. I'm standing up for the meek here. I'm a compassionate democrat. <insert Mother Theresa Smirk>" This is the new identity politics. At its finest. Where it's about being someone more than helping anyone.

Opposite Identity Politics
When a Straight White Male™️ votes for a candidate because they're the opposite race or gender and he wants to feel like he's supporting diversity.
"I'm voting for Hamala Karris because we need more diversity in the administration"
"Man sounds like you're judging the candidate based on opposite identity politics..."

Neoliberal identity politics
A tactic used by neoliberal Democrats to smear Progressives/Social Democrats as 'racists', 'misogynists', 'white supremacists' or a combination of all three. Ever since Bernie Sanders neutralized the term, 'socialist', neoliberal Democrats can no longer effectively red-bait their left-wing opponents, so they have weaponized identity politics against the Left that legitimately gives a shit about social justice. Neoliberal identity politics has largely been bolstered by ignorant, young upper-middle class "intersectional feminists" who smear anyone who criticizes Hillary from the left as "sexist".
Progressive: Man, urban poverty would really be a lot better if we stopped electing neoliberal Democrats like Hillary who keep cutting social programs and deregulating the banks that destroyed the economy in 2008.
Tumblr Feminist: WHICH OF HILLARY'S POLICIES?? I'VE NEVER HEARD YOU CRITICIZE ANY OF THESE OTHER SO-CALLED NEOLIBERALS! YOU'RE A SEXIST!
Progressive: Yep, that's neoliberal identity politics for ya.

political identity privilege
The idea that an individual being a supporter of the Republicans or Democrats can give that individual more power and influence than an individual who is a supporter of a nonmainstream political party or an individual who practices political neutrality, because of the fact that most people will be more likely to respect, listen to, and value the opinion of an individual is a supporter of the Republicans or Democrats than an individual who is a supporter of a nonmainstream political party or an individual who practices political neutrality.
Kenny: I heard that Britany had a disagreement with Dylan because some views of his views about climate change didn’t entirely match the views held by her and certain Democratic leaders. They both believe that climate change is occurring, but, because his views didn’t match her views, she refused to even hear him out as to why he held those views and kept shooting down his ideas as to why climate change was occurring.
Isabell: I know that Britany is very strong supporter of the Democratic party and that Dylan is a supporter of the Green Rainbow Party. Britany doesn’t respect of people’s views on political issues unless the individual is a Democrat. A lot of people listen to what she has to say on various political issues, but they seldom listen to what Dylan has to say.
Kenny: Agreed. It sounds like Britany and some other people’s political identity privilege is showing.

generationally consistent political identity
Aka. G.C.P.I. or just generational consistency, When the political beliefs of an individual match their parents, guardians, and or grandparent’s political beliefs. The more generations from the same family who have the same beliefs, the stronger the generational consistency is. If the trend goes on for too long it can become source of privilege for the younger generations may not even take the time to do research in order to formulate their own views on issues and vote responsibly.
Erin: So, who are you voting for tomorrow?
John: I’ll probably vote for whoever the democrat is. I almost always vote democrat; just like my father and my grandparents on my father’s side. I have a generationally consistent political identity.
Erin: You don’t pay attention to who is running in elections and what their stances are do you?
John: No. Not really.
