俚语 impoivrished
释义

impoivrished

Pronounced "im-pwahv-rished".

The state of being so poor (or so repulsed by grocery shopping) as to lack salt and pepper. This is often the case for students and young adults who are making their initial attempt at living outside the vicinity of their parents' well-stocked cupboards. From "poivre", French for pepper.
Guest: "Have you any salt or pepper? These French fries could use a little help."

Host: "No. I took such condiments for granted while I was in the warmth and safety of my parents' home, and only now that I am on my own do I realize that don't have shit. And I'm too lazy to go shopping. I am impoivrished. Deal with it."

Guest throws fries at Host's head.
