Attraction to this may have stemmed from liking anime characters that has animal ears, tails, or hands.

Furry artists from countries like Taiwan, Korea, China, Philippines are likely to be creating kemono art.
People that are either artists or enthusiasts of kemono art are referred to as "kemoners".

Not to be confused with kimono, a formal garment from Japan.
Kemono art reminds me of animated shows like BNA, ODDTAXI, Beastars, and Aggressive Retsuko.
