A small town in Northeast Ohio, on the shore of Lake Erie, named Ashtabula. Population, 20,962 and just over 7 square miles. Once a thriving port on Lake Erie and home to many inustries. Finns, Italians and Swedes, as well as many others were plenty and a big part of its rich heritage. The Ashtabula River, freshly dredged and cleaned of toxic PCB's in the Historic Harbor, with its picturesque Indian Trails, runs through the City of Ashtabula ("River of many fish"). Ashtabula County is home to over 20 beautiful wineries and 17 covered bridges, including the longest covered bridge in the U.S. and the shortest. Ashtabula City is rich in history, with the Underground Railroad (Hubbard House Museum), Sam Wharram Nature Museum and the Marine Museum.
