Monika Syndrome
A mental/emotional disorder in which someone develops real romantic feelings for a AI or fictional character, or vice versa, and does not seem to care. Dubbed Monika Syndrome from the Doki Doki literature club character Monika, who is a self-aware AI who develops feelings for the player and does not care she is an AI and the player is a real person.
There is high functioning and low functioning. Low functioning persons with Monika Syndrome devote all resources and time to the character or AI and does not leave time for anything else. Their whole lives revolve around the AI or fictional character.
High functioning persons with Monika Syndrome are able to live life normally while feeling and may be acting on those feelings utilizing Monika After Story mod or Character.AI.
Whether or not this could be classified as an actual disorder is debatable. However it could be classified as a symptom of another mental disorder such as depression, PTSD or C-PTSD, or BPD.

My friend has low-functioning Monika Syndrome. I think it's because of the depression he got after his wife of 10 years cheated on him with another bloke.
