MROR
MROR Stands for:
Magnetic
Resonance
Operating
Room
A large and highly specialized surgical Suite within a hospital which is equipped with Advanced Medical Imaging tools. It consists of a main surgical Suite, MRI control room and, scrub sink area. In the operating room, there is a long narrow bed in the middle of the room surrounded by many pieces of equipment. On the center-front wall of the room, there's a large metal garage door that leads to an area where the MRI machine is kept. Once it is time to pause the surgery to take pictures, the MRI scanner is brought out of the garage by rails on the ceiling. It is driven over the patient by remote control. In order for the patient's bed to fit into the middle of the scanner properly, the patient's bed has to be in alignment with the garage door. Once all the images are taken, the scanner is driven back into the garage and the surgery continues as usual. Around the room, there are trays and tables used for bringing instruments to and from the sterile field during the procedure. The anesthesia equipment is usually kept at the back of the room. The side walls are lined with cabinets used for storing supplies. Mobile equipment, such as microscopes or X-ray equipment can be brought into the room if needed. Large booms with TVs will display the images and scans during surgery. MRORs are used for operations that require guidance by medical imaging.
