nelson complex
Nelson Complex: A triad of symptoms exhibited by an otherwise relatively healthy patient. MUST be in the setting of an active pandemic. Includes A) normal vital signs B) unexplained anxiety C) an overwhelming desire to go to the hospital, despite specific "shelter-in-place" protocols. First identified in 2020 by a grizzled old paramedic in the far North.
Paramedic: "Ma,am, I understand that you want transport to the ER anyway, but there is no medical necessity present. You would be better off staying home. There is COVID everywhere in the hospital, and you would probably get exposed."
Woman: "But I'm afraid that I might go to sleep, and never wake up! Please, please take me to the ER."
Paramedic: "OK then." and suspects a case of Nelson Complex.
