Noirling
From the French Noir=black. Conjoined with the English ing=a bit of something. So a noirling is something that's a little black.
1. A "Gens de colour libre." Anything less than biracial. A Mulatto or an Octoroon would each qualify as noirlings.
2. An evil little black thing. Something that has been nuarled.
3. The earliest part of dusk. The first half of the gloaming.

When something has been chewed to the point where it loses color, or changes color entirely. A combination of noir and gnarled.
