To take a franchise or product and applying it to other mediocre and extremely unrelated products.
Lately, Nintendo likes to pokemonify most of their once-golden franchises; take mario for example -- killing bowser and saving the princess was all that it was about, but then mario tennis, mario golf, like, WTF, i thought he was a plumber?
