Porridge Nigger

A porridge nigger is an old world derogatory term for a Scotsman or any other type of Scottish human being. The term was popularized by English folk who wanted to find a way to make their Scottish neighbors feel less-than, so they began to tinker with the idea of introducing a new slur into the common English vernacular.

It is well documented throughout history that Scottish people love porridge, a food generally considered at that time to be for vagabonds and commoners. This was ammunition for the English who simply joined the word “Porridge” with the word “Nigger” and thus, one of the great European slurs of all-time was born.

This term has been the subject of controversy for many centuries, mainly because it is deeply insensitive and has even been considered detrimental to the National pride of Scotland.

In short, Scottish people are poor, and porridge is all they could ever afford. William Wallace changed that to a degree when he used savagery to earn England’s respect.

“Porridge Nigger” is still heavily used to this day all over the world!

In the early days of Scotland’s pathetic history, porridge was commonly made in the morning at homeless shanties and shelters and doled out to the hoards Scots who were always taking advantage of other’s hospitality. Thus, the term “Porridge Nigger” was officially coined around 1696, and came to mainstream prominence around the same time the term “Porridge Wog” came into the common vernacular. The term is shockingly accurate when describing Scottish folks, even today, in the year 2020.

The term is most often used to describe the incessant laziness and ungrateful nature that has marred the reputation of Scottish people for centuries. After years of discrimination, the Scottish were compared to Africans and therefore the word “nigger” was attached to “porridge” and voila. One of the great and underrated European slurs of all-time was born.
