1. It is a colloquial Tamil word meaning 'my pals'. The word originated from the word 'Pillaigal' that translates to 'my children' in Tamil language, which in north Chennai slang later on transformed to the word 'pullingow' referring to 'my pals'. This word is mainly used by young men and women of north Chennai and Tamil Nadu.

2. This word refers to the Tamil hippies consisting predominantly teenage men and men in their mid 20's usually from north Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu. They are identified by their abnormal hairstyles colored in a variety of colours, wearing pencil-fit 3/4th jeans, beaded ornaments and snap back caps. This word gained more social media attention after the song 'Gumbalaga suthuvom friend song' was sung and released by 'Gaana Stephen' who is an example for what pullingow will look like.

3. These people can also be identified from their social media profiles with weird names such as " TArUnn MaSsZZz "
