respite referral
Referral of a patient to a sub specialty physician to give the primary physician a break. Often these patients have unsolvable problems.
Nurse: “Mr. A is here today and has 13 complaints he wants addressed in your 20 minute appointment.”
Doctor: “Ughh, I am going to place a respite referral to Neurology.”
