roof dweller
Homeless person who chooses to sleep on the accessible flat roof of buildings rather than on the street. Most often used to describe an itinerant busker, such as a blues musician, who needed to reduce the risk of their instrument being stolen so chose to sleep away from the street.
He was a busker by day but a roof dweller by night.
