Schindler's Cufflinks
Referring to an overwhelming sense of regret or remorse when one has done something positive, but realizes how much more they potentially could have done after the fact, as with Oscar Schindler realizing his gold cufflinks are literally the equivalent of a human life at the end of the movie 'Schindler's List'.
Q:"Why are you still championing all of these lost causes, when everyone knows it's too late anyways?"
A:"Because if it turns out to be closer than it seems, I DON'T want to be the one wearing Schindler's cufflinks."
