俚语 scream at the bushes
释义

scream at the bushes

verb phrase

to vomit outside, particularly, during a party due to excessive alcohol consumption.

"Screaming at the bushes" is often characterized by a conspicuously audible sound of retching and/or dry heaving. It is typically perpetrated in a flower bed, behind a tree, tall grass, literal bushes, or any other location that might provide a somewhat concealed location to discreetly deposit those pieces of yourself that won't be leaving with the rest of you while simultaneously alleviating the need to clean up afterward.

Origin of "scream at the bushes":
IDK when TF this phrase was 1st used but I'll bet it was coined in West Virginia. When we do somethin' trashy, we typically do our best to, at least, not add work to the puke.
1. Ugh! I'm gonna puke but there's someone in the bathroom. I'm gonna hafta go outside and scream at the bushes.

2. You wanna go to Steve and Deb's 4th of July party this year? IDK if I wanna do that again or not. Last year, you spent the last 1/2 of the party outside, blackout shitty, screamin' at the bushes, while I spent 2 hours fake laughing at your drunk-ass boss' corny-ass jokes.

3. The 50 drinking games are separated into five categories by “Boot Factor." A “Boot Factor” of one means that there is little-to-no chance of tossing your cookies in those games. A “Boot Factor” of five means that you will most likely be screaming at the bushes by the end of the game.
