Sonny Rollins
An American jazz musician who is, without question, one of the baddest cats ever to pick up a tenor saxophone.
His albums, in particular Saxophone Colossus, Tenor Madness, Way Out West and Live at the Village Vanguard, are some of the finest examples of human expression in our species' short history. Influenced to a large degree by Coleman Hawkins, Charlie Parker, Thelonius Monk and Miles Davis, Rollins is one of the finest improvisers in jazz history. Possessor of an edgy, dark, ballsy tenor sound.
This man must be venerated.
