soundsource
The source of a sound. Where a sound is coming from. A universal name for the person who is speaking, the player who is playing the instrument, or the singer who is singing. A name for the speaker on the wall, or the person speaking through the speaker on the wall. Hence, soundsource.
A: What's the soundsource of that .wav file?
B: That's a remix of my buddy.
A: What's the soundsource of that howling? Is it wolves?
B: No, it's just the wind around the apartments here, but it sure sounds like wolves, doesn't it?
(and then a wolf eats B, of course...)
