俚语 spalp
释义

spalp

spalp (verb) (rarely- abstract noun)

To spalp oneself- To be chided for, and exhorted to action from, a state of inaction by one's own inner voice.

Etymology:

Unknown. The passing resemblance to the words slap and scalp may indicate an origin in either a misspelling, like the word liek, or pron or perhaps in an assumed metaphor of a sharp pain that awakens one to action, but this is speculation.

Usage limited almost predominantly to the reflexive, although the abstract noun 'spalp' is also to be found:
"I am rather fond of that moment in The Matrix, when Trinity spalps herself to action: "get up Trinity" she says... "

"that was kind of a spalp moment for me then..."

(usage peculiar to certain online communities.)
