Settler
Stlr= settler People who settle on TURTLE ISLAND are not considered indigenous, they are settlers. Relationships between indigenous and stlr people are important. Stlr colonialism is dangerous to indigenous people as evidenced by the Turtle Island genocide due to a colonial power dynamic which oppresses those indigenous of Turtle Island. The future of mankind is indigenous culture, whereas colonial stlr eco-cide will precipitate climate collapse in the near and encroaching future. Wars are predictable, mutually assured destruction. Reconciliation is for everyone. Accountability to indigenous people is not the trap of neocolonialism. Indigenous people will show you how to relate to home. Stlrs get to know the indigenous people in community. Go see the people doing the work and pay them, or attend free events that amplify indigenous voices. Make space for other stlrs without displacing indigenous people. Stlr you do not have a free pass to any/all space, respect peoples sacred spaces. Let people choose their own time. Don't impose stlrs. Reciprocity and mutual boundaries/agreements are essential. No performative actions, and no absolving yourself from your own self-guided work. Amplify indigenous voices everyday. Collaborate with other stlrs for relational accountability as to how you relate with indigeneity without forcing indigenous to do ur emotional work to make amends and demonstrate compassion, trustworthiness and respect for indigenous dignity and sovereignty.
