释义

Synpton

Definition
A member of a group that has missed a group activity or experience, and due to that feels isolated. Often the member is referred to as a synpton at the moment when the missed activity or experience is brought up or discussed.
Explanation
An individual can be part of a group just as every other person in that given group. The group to speak of could require qualifications or could simply be constructed of a bond between its members. The details regarding the construction of the group are not important at hand. What is important, is to say that all members of the group remain equally part of the group, with no one person being more of the group than another. With that established, at a given activity, conversation, or time, a member may often feel isolated from the group due to a lack of common past activities or experiences performed by the group. This is what is now known as a synpton. A symptom is not a single person in a given group, rather a title noun referred to when appropriate.

Quite often, the same member of a group can become referred to as the synpton. This can frequently be due to that member’s dedication to their career or school, physical location, or natural habits.
A group of friends all equally part of the social circle go on a walk, all except friend A. Later when the walk is brought up in conversation and friend A feels like an outsider to the group, for that moment of isolation friend A can be referred to as the synpton, or if written in the third person, “At that moment, friend A was a synpton ”. In reality, friend A has part-taken in countless other activities and remains to be a great addition to the group. Yet for that moment, friend A feels left out, as if they have missed a development in the friend group. Ensuing these events, another walk occurs, this time friend B can not attend. When this walk is referenced, friend B will suffer from the same emotions and can be referred to as the synpton at that moment in time.

Example:
John, Art, Ben, and Cart are all very good friends.
On Friday night, the group chose to go drinking.
Ben could not attend due to working late.
Saturday, the friends gather to play pool.
“Good god Art, what was that shot, are you still hungover from last night?” asked John.
“No, but damn was that a fun night,” replies Art.
John, Art, and Cart then proceed to talk about their last night’s conversations.
Ben, not aware of what was discussed last night, is left to smile and stand there thinking on what bonding he missed out on.
Although has gone drinking with them all countless times, Ben felt isolated this time.
At that moment, Ben was a synpton.
