The Manx

An event or occasion that is cool or exciting regardless of its number of participants, usually a concert or party. Named after short-tailed manx cats: even without a large tail (in analogy, a large following), still extremely effective.

Demonym for somebody from the Isle of Man, a pretty little isle in between the much larger islands of Britain and Ireland (although it is part of Britain but not part of the UK).

An impudent, cunning, or boldly flirtatious man. The male version of the word "minx."

1. Slang used to describe a type of cat that has no tail - these cats originally come from the Isle of Man and naturally either have no tail or have an incredibly short tail.

Also, manxed cats are know to be very good hunters and so used to be used as a ship's cat or by farmers to hunt mice and rates. Their very short tails (or lack of them) gets named in the following ways: rumpy, riser, stumpy, stubby and longy.

The long-haired version of the manxed cat is breed from Canada that is best known as the Cymric cat.

Big on motorbike racing and anything manx- find 'Tra da li liaoor yessir!' a valid excuse for being late, no matter the occassion

A slanderous term that should only be used in the most extreme of circumstances due to its very high level of insult.
