To make a blue
In Australian parlance, it can mean to make a mistake. I have a feeling it may have come from dock workers. On the other hand, criminals used to be prone to calling charges they faced, 'blues', probably because of the color of the paper on which they were printed. Any other, explanatory contribution would be welcome.
I think I just allowed myself to make a blue.
