trailgating
The act of following entirely too closely while hiking down a trail, resulting in numerous flat tire's to the back of the lead hiker's boots and increased stress overall for the group
"Ben's an asshole - he trailgates the shit out of me all the time. I started hanging on to nearby limbs when I was lead hiking to spring-load those fuckers and wipe him off his feet if he was too close behind me. Damn trailgating SOB"
Trailgater
• Less invasive but equally annoying cousin of the standard tailgater, more commonly encountered at night, usually driving a newer vehicle with "angry eyebrow anime eye" type headlights; LED of course.
• Passive-aggressively invades your AO (area of operation) on a mostly empty highway/freeway by driving directly behind you at a distance which doesn't qualify as tailgating but is uncomfortably suspect given the 4+ other lane options, and peevish--especially because the trailgater will keep and maintain their position for oddly long periods of time.
• Confirmation of a trailgater includes slowing down significantly >10mph and failing to instigate a lane change by the trailgater.
• Trailgaters are also known as "PilotFishGaters" and "WTFyouPsycho".
• Commonly found along the 128/95 in Massachusetts.

"This character has been creeping behind me since the motherfcking Pike exit, guy what a trailgater."
