那个
A Chinese filler word. A filler word is a sound we make when we're thinking of the next thing to say, like "you know", "umm", "uhhh" etc. While the formal way to say it is "Na Ge" which sounds like "Naw! Guh!", its colloquial pronunciation is "Nei Ge" which is often misconstrued by English speakers as the N word. But really, it's not.
Example 1:
Chinese guy : 那个, 你想出去玩儿吗? ( uhhh, do you wanna chill or something?)
Chinese guy's friend: 当然!那个,四点半可以吗?(Of course man! um, how about 4:30 PM?)
Chinese guy: 可以可以!(SURE!)
Non-Chinese speaker: Yo these two guys are so racist.
