bobotante
Filipino voters who continue to elect corrupt and unqualified politicians. Politicians who are, but not limited to, those related to the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, who have existing graft and corruption charges and records, have misrepresented their educational attainment, have been caught lying but still choose to stand by one's lie.
He relied on misinformation, disinformation and troll armies to persuade the bobotantes into giving him the highest seat in the country.
Bobotante
In the Philippines, the “bobotante” (a portmanteau of the words “bobo,” or stupid, and “botante,” or voter) is often used to refer to voters who select ‘unqualified’ candidates for office — perhaps a movie star, an absentee senator, an unapologetic daughter of a dictator, an ex-president widely known to have stolen the elections not just once but twice.
The victory of known plunderers and human rights violators in the recent elections is being blamed on the bobotante, for believing fake news in social media.
