brel is a combination of slang terms "bre" and "mel". "bre" is derived from hombre and bro, basically an equivalent of dude. "mel" is a shortened mellow. therefore, brel is typically a mellow dude. However, brel can be used in any part of speech in whatever manner desired.

A large group of people who are neither brothers nor relatives of the speaker, but who are sufficiently close to be considered family.
