Common tongue
The most widely used language. I would call English the common tongue because at this point there are soo many different ways people speak it. I also think that by naming it the common tongue it would lose it's standing as something superior.
person: Do you speak the common tongue?
another person: Yes, I do.
another person: Yes, I do.
