Consultant's clap
A term to describe the action of making barely any effort to wash one's hands, just turning the tap on and quickly rinsing for a few seconds. There is no effort made to wash all surfaces of the hands, just a quick rub together of the palms.
This is in mockery of old school medical consultants who were raised without the standard of hand washing, and now brazenly clap their hands quickly under a running tap to comply with infection control guidelines.
It is most commonly seen with the use of hand sanitizer.

Come on, wash your hands properly! All you did there was a consultant's clap!
