Covington Trap
When you see a snippet of a video and you assume you know exactly what happened as if you were there. Usually leaves people quick to jump to conclusions with egg on their faces.
This is in reference to the 2019 Lincoln Memorial confrontation between Covington Catholic student Nick Sandmann and activist Nathan Phillips in which a short clip went viral online and sparked outrage across the country by NPCs, Fake News and the Twitterati who made wild accusations of racism, terroristic smiling, and made public death threats against the teen.
Later, as a much more complete video made its rounds on the internet it appeared that Sandmann was innocent of any wrong-doing and Phillips was the aggressor.
Also not covered by mainstream media were the Black Hebrew Israelites who made multiple racist comments towards the students yet somehow escaped public criticism.
Sandmann would go on to sue multiple media outlets for defamation and has since won his case against CNN for an undisclosed amount. His other cases are still pending.
