New Zealand idiomatic word for spherical and/or dried lumps of animal faeces, typically those left by a sheep or rabbit but may also refer to excrement of larger animals once it has dried and begun to disintegrate
"You can tell we're in rabbit country because of all the crattles; you can see that they're smaller and more numerous than those left by a sheep."
