crosplaining
the explanation of behavior, generally deemed unacceptable in Western countries, by a Croatian typically from Croatia, to an expat, member of the diaspora, or a tourist, in a manner regarded as condescending or patronizing.
Expat #1: "I waited two hours at MUP (Croatia Police) for my number to get called. Even though I brought all of the required supporting documents for my temporary residency, which are listed on their website; the woman at the counter rudely told me I was missing x, y and z. Now I have to make a another trip. What a waste of time!"
Croatian: "Welcome to Croatia! The woman at the counter probably has a terrible boss and doesn't get paid very much. Therefore, she is unhappy and does not care about doing a good job. I'm not excusing her behavior - just trying to explain to you that this is how it is in Croatia."
LATER:
Expat #1: "I wasted two hours at MUP today only to find out that I didn't have everything I needed for my temporary residency. This would never happen in the US! Can you imagine?
Expat #2: It sure wouldn't! How does this country even operate? How many people actually get what they need at MUP on the first try? Nobody!
Expat #1: And then (Croatian) was crosplaining to me that the woman at the counter was rude because she is unhappy at her job!
