The Darwiish (1900 - 1920) was the successor state to the Dhulbahante garaadship (1550 - 1900) that was initially centered in the Wardheer, Cayn Sool and Maakhir regions but later expanded during the anti-colonial campaigns to encompass much of the Horn, only to be defeated in 1920 but British air power

The reason why Darwiish and Dhulbahante are inextricably linked is because 5 Darwiish capitals were in Dhulbahante territory; 1896-1900 Kob Fardod Buuhoodle (Axmed Garaad town), Weylahed (1901) an Ugaasyada & Hinjiile Bah Nugaal locality, Lassader (1902-1904) an Axmed Garaad locality, Halin (1909) an Ugaasyada & Hinjiile locality, and Taleh, a Nur Axmed - Samakab - Ugaadhyahan town.
