释义

DCI

Drum Corp International. An organization that sets the standards for drum and bugle corps to compete. Includes many World class corps and even more Open class corps. Some of the big named corps are: The Cavaliers, Phantom Regiment, Santa Clara Vanguard, and The Cadets. DCI is unique in the way of competition by the fact that there is no defense. Each corp is judged primarily and only on their performance and not by that of others. This is truely a sport of skill. Many fans of DCI insist on one corp being better than all others. This is a false statement. Each corp, especially World Class, has their own specialty quality while others specialize in a different quality. It is impossible, for example, for Phantom Regiment to be better than The Cavaliers and vice versa. If one needs help figuring out which is the best in their eyes, they should watch the semi-finals and finals of at least 2 years.

DCI

Detective Chief Inspector. Chief Inspector (Ch Insp) is a rank used in police forces which follow the British model. In countries outside Britain, it is sometimes referred to as Chief Inspector of Police (CIP).

Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) is usually the minimum rank held by a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO), who heads major investigations (into murder, for example), and a pool of these officers usually works out of force headquarters or major police stations. The senior Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officer in each Basic Command Unit (BCU) usually also holds this rank.

DCI

n. and adj.

Acronym for Drum Corps International, a political organization formed by a few persons in 1972 out of a short-lived precursor called The Combine. The originally stated goals of both The Combine and DCI were to provide a consistent, single nonprofit organization to serve independent drum and bugle corps, which at the time numbered in the many 100s, rather than a broad mix of sponsoring organizations. Today, DCI serves DCI and its member groups, which are estimated as numbering 70 or so interrelated groups. These member groups resemble marching bands without woodwinds more than they do drum and bugle corps. Discussions as to whether DCI is drum and bugle corps are hotly political. DCI's primary interest today is one of continued corporate branding rather than support of and service to the drum and bugle corps genre.
DCI may be drum corps of some kind, but it's not drum and bugle corps nor is it the best marching band I've seen.

DCI

Originally an acronym for Duelist Convocation International, the official sanctioning (governing, judging and organizing) body for Magic, The Gathering and other various fantasy or collectable games from Wizards of the Coast}. The name is now permanently and officially shortened to DCI.
The DCI banned my friend from tournaments for cheating.

dci

Drum Corps International

An organization that holds competitions for drum and bugle corps.
It's very safe to assume that it is the most popular one of all.

Recently, it's popularuty has been decreasing by drummers, and rising by the bugle players.

The reason for this is probably because while the bugle music is getting more creative and challenging, the drum music is losing it's rudimental identity, thus being so easy that a freshman in highschool can play it.
Dude, did you see the DCI semifinals?
