Diastory
I created a new word this afternoon:
diastory /‘dīəstôrē/ n. •(1) a convenient part of a story that on its face serves to disparage or denigrate someone as a means to elevate oneself or one’s self image when the reality is the exact opposite. (2) a façade concealing the whole inconvenient truth or scandal by omitting disparaging details and only revealing the favorable ones. (3) not the whole truth. (4) an antagonistic perspective of a traitor, guilty party, or villain. (Syn. cover-up, fake news, slander, libel, scandal, bullshit, diversion, nonsense, stereotype, hidden meaning, cryptic message, disguise, beard) •(1) an overt feeling or expression used to undercut a particular minority to empower one’s own ego. (2) an offensive, prejudicial or otherwise abusive rhetoric intended to manipulate or belittle as a means of personal empowerment.
