When specifically in the state of Florida, Down South, or in some cases, The South refers to Palm Beach, Broward, and Dade counties. Major cities Down South consist of West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami.

Many people living in Northern Ireland refer to places across the Irish border as " down South." Ireland consists of thirty two counties.
