Fingering the Cat
A phrase originating under the Tokugawa shogunate circa 1669 which aptly describes the phenomena of returning home from a long day of collegiate studies and kicking back with a brew followed by crushing a nap. Roughly translated from the original Japanese it means "arousing the lynx" but has been adapted into "fingering the cat" to appeal to the more modern and domesticated variety of feline as well as appear more colloquial to the average collegiate.
Mitch: "Tarnation, Jimmy what in Sam Hill are you doing?
Jimmy: "Not much, I just finished my last class and I'll just be in my room fingering the cat."
Mitch: "I wish you well in that endeavor"
Jimmy: "Bite my cock!"
