The word ‘Firebone’ is used to identify petrol based engines. Most often used directly to describe pistons which are tuned by hand and used in vintage racing motorbikes. The fuel explodes in the cylinder creating fire, and the piston connecting rod resembles an arm bone. Hence ‘Firebone’.
