俚语 off the island
释义

off the island

1) out of line

2) unpopular

3) antisocial
You are really so off the island (as in those reality tv shows where you get voted off because you're some kind of fuck-up)

voted off the island

"Voted off the island" is coined from the popular Survivor TV reality series. Used similarly to "throw under the bus" but it implies that more people (co-workers, your boss even) were involved in getting you off the team or fired. Basically, you are sacrificed so that the others can keep their own jobs. Sad truth is that "dog-eat-dog" survival exists in the office - especially in a bad economy - so keep your eyes and ears peeled for whisperers and frienenemies to minimize your chance of being voted off the island.
Mindy was voted off the island last week so now we're down to the original three managers in the department.

If Pete is not careful, he'll be voted off the island by the end of the month.

Getting off the Island

A metaphor for coming out/coming out of the closet; accepting oneself as LGBT and/or letting the people around you know. From Italian slang.
John: Ever since I got off the island, I've been so much happier.
Ashley: What does that mean?
John: Getting off the Island means coming out and things have been better for me since then.
Ashley: Great! I'm happy for you!

Fresh off shit island

A fart that stinks like death and disease. Toxic. Gagger. Refers to wind passing over a turd on the way out.
"Man Tommy, that'd had to be fresh off shit island..light a match"
