A person who is born in Portland and who lives there. often time these people can be a little weird or outside the box

A term commonly used by mistake by people not originally from Portland to refer to people that live in the Portland area, not realizing the proper term is Portlander. The term is derived from the show Portlandia, and incorrectly thus assumes that people of Portland are referred to as Portlandians. The term surfaced about 10 years ago for that reason, and is often used mockingly by Portlanders in reference to transplants who moved to the area, especially hipsters.

Someone who lives in Portland but is not originally from the area, often also referred to as a transplant. This incorrect term has only surfaced about 10 years ago, and is sometimes used by native Portlanders to refer to transplants who moved here from somewhere else, especially in regards to hipsters.
