Soveria Mannelli
A gorgeous little town in the middle of Calabria, Southern Italy. Amazing things happened over there, but unfortunately no one really knows... The Soveritan Vespers against the French army or Garibaldi's passage and Bourbons' defeat are only few of the many wonderful stories that this place can tell.
Soveria Mannelli is situated in a valley carved by the Amato river, and it's surrounded by pristine nature and dense woods.
It was born around the XVIth century from a community of farmers, and over time became a really important town in its area. Soveritan people is mostly remebered for the linen manufacture tradition that goes on from the 1600s (that is sadly disappearing today).
Nowadays Soveria Mannelli is the homeplace of many important industries such as Lanificio Leo (the most ancient textile factory in Calabria), Rubbettino Editore (one of the most important Calabrian publishing houses) or Camillo Sirianni (that produces school and office furniture and export its products worldwide).
