Wilhelm Scream
A stock sound effect that has appeared in over 115 movies. One of the places you can hear it is in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, when a Nazi's grenade explodes, throwing a solider down a hill.
If you ask him nicely enough, Joe might do a perfect Wilhelm Scream.
Wilhelm Scream
"1. The Wilhelm Scream is one of a series of short painful screams performed by an actor that were recorded in 1951 for the Warner Brother's film ""Distant Drums."" They were used for a scene where a man is bitten and dragged underwater by an alligator. The recording was archived into the studio's sound effects library -- and it was used in many of their films since. ""Star Wars"" Sound Designer Ben Burtt tracked down the scream recording - which he named ""Wilhelm"" from a character who let out the same scream in ""Charge at Feather River (1953)."" Ben has adopted the scream as sort of a personal sound signature, and has worked it into as many films as he can as well as other sound designers, ~150 movies and counting.

A Wilhelm Scream
1. A stock sound effect originally from the movie Distant Drums, released in 1951. Many speculate that the sound was voiced by actor Sheb Wooley, as he was credited as a voice actor for the film. Since then, many sound designers have used the wilhelm scream as a sort of inside joke.
It has been featured in films by Quentin Tarantino, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, many Disney films, and quite a few more. More recently, the wilhelm scream has been used in television shows, music, video games, and internet videos.
2. A Wilhelm Scream is a melodic hardcore punk band from New Bedford, Massachusetts, started in 1996. Having been previously gone under the names Smackin' Isaiah and Koen, the band changed its name to A Wilhelm Scream, a reference to the above stock sound effect. Many critics have referenced Strike Anywhere, Propagandhi, and Hot Water Music as similar artists.

A Wilhelm Scream
1. One of THE BEST melodic hardcore bands on the fucking market. They're amazing songwriters and every member of the band is a talented musician. Most often flamed as "just another yelling, angry band" solely because of their frequent use of the word "Fuck".
They recently picked up Mike Supina and Bri Robinson, who are amazing musicians.
Mike's a really rad guy.
The current line up as of March 28, 2008 is as follows:
Nuno Pereira-Vocals
Nick Angellini-Drums
Trevor Reilly-Guitar/Vocals
Bri Robinson-Bass/Vocals
Mike Supina-Guitar/Awesome
2. A repeated sound effect used in early films for the death of a male character.

1. On March 15th, I saw A Wilhelm Scream with The Unseen, The Side Affects, and Crack and Divide. I got to go backstage and meet the band, they fucking rock even more offstage than they do on.
And that's saying ALOT.
2. Did you here the wilhelm scream in God of War, it's so cheesy!

A Wilhelm Scream
A famous male scream that can be heard in such popular films as the Star Wars saga, The indiana Jones trilogy and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
In Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones is driving the truck carrying the ark through the desert. While Driving, he tries to shake off a couple of nazi's climbing on top of the truck and when one of them falls off, you here the Wilhelm scream. During the battle of the Pelennor fields in the Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Legolas the elf climbs his way up a Mumakil(giant elephant), sturggles a bit with a Haradrim soldier and then throws him off the Mumakil, at which point the Haradrim makes A wilhelm scream.
